Why hello there,
I’m Heather Horrocks and I graduated Leeds University last July (2009) as a qualified Journalist. I’ve been here at RHB since September 2009 but only recently finished my training in the last few months. However while I’ve been training I’ve been busy making a name for myself on a few other shows on RHB. You may have heard my voice on the Tuna and Mayo show which is broadcasted on a Monday night. I am the famous ‘Little Mermaid’, I usually walk around the wards, chatting to the nurses and patients and getting them set up on the radio. You’ve probably also heard me on Requestline on a Tuesday night and chipping in on Dave Peacocks Pirate Radio Hits Show also broadcasted on a Tuesday.
For the past few months I’ve also been co-presenting with Dale, another member of RHB, on his radio show called The Dale Bamber Show. You can read about his show if you click on his name on the volunteer’s page. On his show I write and present the 9 o’clock news every Sunday night. I also write a weekly column on news that has made the headlines over the past week; you can find this on Dale’s website http://www.dalebamber.co.uk/heathersworld/. Plus you guys will soon have the pleasure of listening to the show as it will be moving from Ribble Valley Media and begin broadcasting on RHB at the beginning of August 2010.
I also hope to have my own show, soon, which will be a show based on the news, ranging from community news, regional and national headlines, showbiz gossip, and modern day issues that affect society, along with a panel of co-presenters to discuss and debate the news and gossip of the day. There’ll be a little bit of everything in there, and it won’t all be serious, there’ll be lots of entertainment through interviews, quizzes and the listeners will have a chance to join in with the show by calling up and expressing their views. Throughout the show there’ll be a variety of music played from the 50’s up until the present day all fitting in with the topic of discussion for that day.
