It all started with a phone call to James Brindle…
“What you up to tonight? I’m bored.”
“I’m with Dave Peacock at hospital radio. Wanna come along? It’ll be fun”
“Well… Okay…”
And the rest is history.
I’ve known James and Dave for years since working together at a certain nightclub in the 90’s and early 2000’s(them as DJs and me running the lighting rig for them), so at least, I thought, it’d be fun to go and have a look-see.
Two words sum up my first night. Oh wow… Hell yeah. I gotta do this more.
By the end of the first night, I’d filled in an application form, and now, after a few mishaps (I completely clammed up my first time alone in front of a mic) I’m a fully trained up member of the crew.
As far as music goes, I’ve been a fan of classical music and prog. rock since I was small, and am not a fan of several bands and artists that everyone “should” like, and know and like a few of the more “obscure” rock bands (at least they were obscure before a certain video game based around a plastic guitar). I have had to learn to appreciate some genres the hard way (just don’t ask me my opinion of the modern version of so-called R’n’B if you don’t want me to scream).
